Skin desensitisation
This treatment is for people experiencing altered sensation: –
- Hyposensitivity (reduced sensation in an area near your knee), like a loss of feeling or numbness
- Hypersensitivity – (increased sensation), can be painful with only light touch on the skin, due to cold, due to heat or weather changes
- Altered sensitivity – for example a burning sensation, pins and needles, prickling, or any other weird and wonderful descriptions
This may be associated with a surgical scar but it often occurs in an area where pain has persisted for a long time.
