Partial knee replacement
A partial knee replacement refers to having half of a knee replacement done – either the medial (inside) compartment of the knee or the lateral (outside) compartment of the knee.
Possibly only one compartment of the knee had arthritis and required surgery and not the other. Or maybe the unoperated compartment only has mild arthritis.
There has been little research on persistent pain after a partial knee replacement.
However, from clinical experience, pain after a partial knee replacement appears to be the same in severity and nature as a total knee replacment and I would treat it the same, that is, recommend Kneed.
The only difference is that there is a chance that the unoperated compartment may have osteoarthritis and mild inflammation. The management of osteoarthrits is essentially the same as what is recommended in Kneed for pain after knee replacement. If you have inflammatory arthritis, refer to the inflammatory arthritis page.
