Persistent Post-Surgical Pain - Patient Simulation
Hi – Welcome to my patient simulation AI Chatbot.
The aim is to help clinicians practice speaking to patients about pain.
This Chatbot simulation is designed for you to practice discussing why pain persists after surgery over a 5 minute period and will adjust its questions and comments depending on your responses. It will monitor the interaction and provide individualised feedback at the end.
The Chatbot will play the role of the patient in the scenario below and ask you questions.
Provide a typed response (in 1- 5 sentences) of the answer that you would give to a real patient (it is assessed as if you are speaking).
Once you have provided the patient with sufficient information, the chat will end and you will be provided with feedback.
At the conclusion, please fill in the survey on the page below to provide me with some feedback on the Chatbot.
An anonymous transcript of your interaction will be logged.
Please just run through the scenario once only.
Goals of this module:
- Validate the patient’s frustration or confusion.
- Confirm that the knee has healed.
- Introduce the concept of sensitivity
- Explain that persistent pain is common.
The Scenario:
You are a rehabilitation clinician who has taken a history from and performed an examination on a 65 year old patient who has persistent pain in their knee following an uneventful knee replacement 3 months ago.
